Could he be teething?

my baby boy has been a bit whingy and niggly more than usual latley, he usually has 1 poo a day (always has since day 1) but yday he had 3 and today 2, for the past week he has slobbered like crazy, I mean every minute i'm wiping a river off his chin and his bib looks like I could wring it out, tonight he woke up from being in bed (he usually sleeps for 8hrs straight at night) and was howling crying, the only time he has cryed like this is when he had he needles, I thought he was in pain but he had no wind so I gave him half a spoon of calpol and 5mins later he was asleep in my arms, when his mouth opened it looked like I could see 2 white bumps at the front bottom on his gums, I'm not sure if its my eyes but I'm certain I can see them, he is only 9 weeks old tomorrow could he be teething already?? x
